Dear Distinguished Leaders,

Thank you for your willingness to attend the National Discussion on Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at America's Colleges, and Universities, and Service Academies. Nearly 400 attendees are registered for this event and we are excited you will join us on April 4 and 5. 

This email provides you with information which will assist with your arrival and ensure your experience at the United States Naval Academy is a pleasant one. 

  1. For those staying at designated hotels in the local area, early check-in for the conference will be available on April 3rd from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Please stop by to pick up your welcome packet. 
  2. Parking is unavailable on the Navy Academy campus; ride shares and taxis cannot enter either. All National Discussion participants must park at or ride-share to the Navy and Marine Corps Stadium. Its address is: Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, 550 Taylor Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401. Buses will take you onto the Naval Academy from there (approximately 1.5 miles away).
  3. Entrance to the Navy and Marine Corps Stadium (where you will park) is through Gate 5. For reference, a United States Navy Blue Angels fighter jet is next to the entrance. There is a $5.00 fee (cash or credit card) for all-day parking, which will be collected upon entering the lot.
  4. Check-in tents will be located at the stadium. Welcome packets will be distributed there for those who did not receive them previously at their hotels. Staff members will be available to answer any questions or concerns during check-in. Please wear your issued nametags while on campus.
  5. Free shuttles between the stadium and campus will be provided all day. Please board the bus after checking-in. The shuttles (schedule attached) begin at 7:00am each day. We recommend you board prior to 8:15am to be seated before the start of the event, which begins promptly at 8:30am. Please note that on April 5th, all traffic will cease on the campus between 3:45pm and 5:00pm to accommodate the formal parade. If you need to get to the airport, please be sure to take the bus at 3:00pm. Shuttles will run during the day if you need to leave earlier.
  6. As the Naval Academy is a government facility, security measures will be in place upon boarding and on the campus. Please have your state or federally issued identification ready at the bus. A list of approved documents is attached to this email. Upon arrival, you will proceed through security screening (similar to airport screening). The following items are prohibited: weapons/knives; mace; box cutters; coolers; bags larger than a typical purse or backpack (e.g. duffle bags, large camera bags). If you are departing early either day, please note that you cannot bring luggage onto the bus.
  7. Consider wearing walking shoes to the event, as there is some distance between the locations for the breakout sessions, as well as our lunch venue.
