Navy IPO advises, informs and assists the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard on strategies, foreign policy matters and the general impact of Coast Guard programs and operations on international affairs. Navy IPO also coordinates aspects of Coast Guard international affairs, including negotiating agreements, participating in international organizations, training foreign personnel, arranging visits by foreign officials, and providing technical assistance to foreign governments. Additionally, Navy IPO supports the Coast Guard in excess defense articles programs and the overseas sale of cutters, boats and other assets.
