National Safety Council President and CEO Lorraine Martin presented a special recognition to Honorable Lucian Niemeyer, Acting Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment, and the Department's Designated Agency Safety and Health Official in Washington D.C., Jan. 23.
The Council annually presents the Rising Stars of Safety Award to those safety and occupational health professionals under the age of 40 who show dedication to safety leadership at work.
The Department of the Navy, along with the Department of the Air Force, are the only public or private companies to have ten individuals selected for this prestigious recognition since the award's inception in 2010.
The Department's award recipients have included an exceptional cadre of Navy and Marine Corps junior enlisted, junior officers, and civilians who have demonstrated a noteworthy ability to enhance their command's readiness and operational capabilities through their devotion to #KeepEachOtherSafe - in the #workplace, at home, at play, and on the roads.
