Essential Security Clearance Topics
  • Advise all command members that contact with DONCAF must be made by the Security Officer/Manager, Security Assistant, or Special Security Officer only.
  • If you call and leave a message, we will do our best to call you back within two (2) working days (with the exception of Customer Service). If you have not heard from us within that timeframe, please contact the appropriate team supervisor in case the individual you attempted to contact is unable to respond due to absence.
  • Include your name, telephone number, UIC or RUC, and e-mail address on all correspondence with the DONCAF.
  • There is no need to call to verify receipt of a fax.
  • There is no need to fax the same information to several fax numbers/machines. All fax machines at the DONCAF are co-located.
  • Correspondence addressed to the command should never be provided to the individual to whom the material pertains.
  • Individuals should not call the DONCAF to check on the status of their own clearance.
  • All DONCAF correspondence contains a point of contact (POC) and telephone number. Please call that specific POC regarding that specific case. Also, when calling with a question on a specific case, please have your correspondence available.
  • It is essential that Security Managers/SSO’s request access to the Joint Personnel Security Adjudication System (JPAS) which provides security clearance information and enables communication with the DONCAF. Visit the Chief of Naval Operations (N09N2) Information and Personnel Security section of this web site and select the JPAS menu option. This provides you with further details on the functions of JPAS and how to access the system.
  • The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) mandated that clearance facilities achieve an overall response time of 30 days. The DONCAF is committed to the adherence of the OSD mandate, and as of November 2004, DONCAF has met or exceeded the DoD requirement of 30 days from receipt to adjudication.
