LAW STUDENTS

The DON OGC Summer Law Clerk Program is an exciting way to spend your summer.  Our program benefits include: a paid summer clerkship; an assigned mentor and co-mentor; assignments in multiple legal practice areas; experience drafting legal writing samples; annual and sick leave; transportation subsidy benefits; scheduled events at the U.S. Capitol, U.S. Supreme Court, Naval Academy, and Naval Ships and Aircraft; potential for an Advance Commitment to work for OGC after law school; and exposure to DON OGC senior leadership, including members of the Senior Executive Service.  The DON OGC Summer Law Clerk Program is a civilian program seeking highly qualified law school candidates with diverse experiences and backgrounds. Students interested in participating in the DON OGC Summer Law Clerk Program should apply through their Career Development Office, or various job fairs throughout the United States.  Application materials include a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and transcript.

Minimum Requirements  

  • Completed Two Years of Legal Studies

  • Currently Ranked in Top Third of Class or Membership in Law

  • Review/Law Journal or Moot Court

  • U.S. Citizenship Required

  • Strong Interview Skills

  • Strong Interest in Supporting our Nation’s Sailors and Marines
